ONLINE CHECK-IN

For St. Francis Campus - Upon arrival, patients will be triaged, or screened, by St. Francis Emergency Department staff and, depending on their condition, will be directed to either emergency care or Urgent Care.

If you have an acute life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the emergency department.

Cost of Care

As we lack the leverage of large multi-hospital groups, Suburban Emergency Associates, P.A. contract rates with the four local major health plans are often at least 10% less than neighboring emergency departments. In additional, unlike other neighboring facilities where you may receive a full physician charge for an NP or PA visit, our professional services for NP and PA visits in the urgent care are discounted a further 15% for HealthPartners, BlueCross, all Medicare and Medicaid programs.

We offer discounts for those without insurance or payments plans. Please contact us at 763-553-9920 to discuss options.

What you need to know about your visit?

When you arrive at the St. Francis Emergency Department and St. Francis Urgent-Shakopee location you will first be evaluated by a Registered Nurse (RN). The Triage process is a quick assessment of your medical condition, and determines the order in which patients are seen and treated and whether your condition can be safely treated in our urgent care. During this process, the RN will ask for your identification and the main reason for your visit. Your vital signs will be checked. Your next steps will be determined by the seriousness of your condition, current volumes in the department and online registration status.

At all times, emergency conditions are given priority. If space allows, you will be immediately brought back to the emergency department for physician assessment and completion of registration at bedside once your condition has been stabilized.

Urgent care patients will be similarly assessed and treated in the urgent care by highly-experienced family physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in our Urgent Care for conditions that are well-defined and more limited in nature. To expedite treatment, it’s helpful to have the following information along with your insurance card and photo identification.

  1. A list of your recent procedures, medications and any drug allergies if not already listed in the Allina or Park Nicolet Clinic electronic medical record
  2. Advance Directives: Living wills, Do-Not-Resuscitate orders, Power of Attorney, etc.
